Please consider volunteering for the upcoming 2018 Point in Time Homelessness Count happening on APRIL 18, 2018 in Saskatoon. This year we will also be hosting a youth event in hopes to collect data about housing related issues for community members aged 16-24.

For more information and to register visit the Eventbrite page

—A point-in-time (PIT) count is a count of people experiencing sheltered, unsheltered, and transitional homelessness (core populations) conducted on a single day.

In 2018 - across Canada, communities are coordinating a PIT count between March and April - and includes over 60 communities.

In Saskatoon, the count is on APRIL 18

—PIT counts give a snapshot of trends, needs, and priorities and helps measure progress, inform practice and policies.

—Although they tend to underestimate the numbers, they can be useful evidence to shape public awareness, policy, and program decisions.

In order to capture all the data from our community - WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

As a volunteer you are committing to 2 things:

1: mandatory training at one of the training sessions (you will be prompted to register once you commit to volunteer)

2: participating in the volunteer activity on APRIL 18 (there are a few options to choose from!)

Volunteers will be mobile throughout the community - you will be assigned a particular location where you will be expected to canvass community members. There are non-mobile volunteer opportunities - please contact the coordinator to discuss these options (pitcount@shipweb.ca)
