This 6 hour workshop covers the history of Saskatchewan’s First Nation and Métis peoples from pre-contact to today. Training includes the Treaties and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.

Nick Crighton, Director of Indigenous Engagement with the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, leads these sessions. He believes that education and sharing Indigenous history in our schools, businesses, and homes is imperative to bridging the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.

This Level 1 workshop is made up of the following mdules:

Module 1 - Terminology, Demographics and Treaty 101
Module 2 - The Métis
Module 3 - The Indian Act and Residential Schools
Module 4 - Taxes, Duty to Consult, UNDRIP, Education, Turning the Corner

This session is a prerequisite to all advanced levels of Indigenous Awareness Training.
