Revitalizing the Circle: Saskatchewan's Two Spirit Powwow

The Two Spirit community, Beardy's & Okemasis' Cree Nation, and OUTSaskatoon are proud to bring forward a first for Canada, as we will be hosting the first public Two Spirit powwow to ever be held on First Nations Reserve Lands in our country on June 15th at Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation!

The intent of the powwow is to create a safe space for all people, especially Two Spirit peoples, to take part in cultural celebrations in gender-affirming spaces. Dancers are encouraged to dance whatever style they wish, the dance styles are not set in genders but in self-expression. Whatever style you wish to dance, you are welcome to do so!

The 2nd Annual Revitalizing the Circle: Saskatoon’s first Two Spirit Powwow will be known as Saskatchewan’s Two Spirit Powwow as the powwow committee are humbled to bring this momentous event to our province and country!

Through this powwow we will be revitalizing our Indigenous worldviews of gender as a community and addressing the impacts of colonialism on our gender diverse Indigenous family.
