Across the province Saskatchewan residents marked and celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day.

In Saskatoon, there was Rock Your Roots, the Walk for Reconciliation, which kicked off an afternoon of entertainment and activities at Victoria Park.

In Nipawin, the newly formed Reconciliation committee was invited to fly the Reconciliation flag at the town offices. You can read more about event here: Flag a symbol of the future at Town Hall

In Regina, people could learn, discover and enjoy the culture of First Nations, Metis and Inuit People through activities, entertainment and barbecue at Victoria Park. The Royal Saskatchewan museum hosted an archeology day with traditional hunting workshops. Casino Regina had an arts and crafts far with soup and bannock. At Government House Garden, there was the planting of sacred tobacco.

In Battlefords regional community leaders gathered for the Sacichawasihc relationship agreement signing ceremony. A regional community framework has been developed that will provide continuity and relationship sustainability in the future. In Prince Albert, it was a beautiful day with many people of all backgrounds coming together to celebrate. Community members participated in the first ever Reconciliation Walk. There was entertainment and activities throughout the day. The Coalition set up reconciliation paint walls and there was an open invitation for anyone to come and paint.
