Indigenous Services Canada will be impacted during the Public Service Alliance of Canada labour action.
The ISC website mentions delays in processing requests and increased wait times for some services including getting, renewing, or replacing status cards; information around non-insured status benefits; submitting a request under Jordan’s Principle; and Treaty annuity payments, among others.
Every year the Government of Canada makes the $5 treaty annuity payments to status Indians who are entitled to them as members of Treaty bands through specific historic treaties with the Crown. ISC says, “due to the labour disruption, some services may take longer than usual and some events may be rescheduled.”
