Members of the Office of the Treaty Commissioner team are spending this week in Manitoba for the Treaties 1 to 11 Gathering hosted by Treaty 1 and Brokenhead Ojibway Nation.

We are pleased to be able to come together with around 1,200 leaders, elders, youth, and community members from the numbered Treaty First Nations. This event provides the opportunity to engage in critical discussions on various topics such as political, legal, international, and communications strategies.

Other important topics include the Treaty framework and structure, land rights, access to healthcare and education, as well as pathways towards further healing from the residential school system. Participants will also explore the promises made by the Crown and identify steps to promote growth as sovereign nations and leaders in the economic landscape.
