Mary Culbertson, Treaty Commissioner of Saskatchewan, celebrates the judicial appointment of Stephanie Whitecloud-Brass to the Territorial Court of the Northwest Territories.

Whitecloud-Brass, a Dakota woman from Standing Buffalo First Nation, graduated with a bachelor of Science at the University of Regina before getting her Law degree from the University of Saskatchewan.

Along with experience as a legal aid defence lawyer, she has worked as counsel for claimants in the Independent Assessment Process under the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement, as a council for the City Solicitor’s Office in Saskatoon, and with FSIN.

The Treaty Commissioner believes in the importance of raising up the accomplishments of Indigenous Women as they occupy places that improve the lives of others.
