The Office of the Treaty Commissioner is excited that one of the youth, who is currently working with the OTC – Youth in Service program, is named as the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild Youth Poet Laureate for 2020-2021.
Peace Akintade is an amazing young woman, who is fully engaged in her role with us: discussing reconciliation to learn from, and educate, others. She remains an active member of the OTC’s Youth Speaker’s Bureau.
Peace is an African-Canadian poet, spoken word artist and sought-after public speaker, originally from Nigeria, and now living in Saskatoon.
According to the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild, “the selection committee noted that Peace is a passionate performer with a powerful voice who is skilled in working in multiple media. Her energy, community involvement and a broad range of experience will make her a lively literary ambassador. We are excited to see what she will do.”
So are we! Congratulations Peace!
