Staff at the Office of the Treaty Commissioner are continuously working to grow their own knowledge while support the other of others to learn.

On Friday, we had a professional development day at Wanuskewin Heritage Park in Saskatoon, where we learned about hand games and spear throwing.

“It was a great afternoon. The spear throwing portion was the best part- it really challenged our manual dexterity skills,” said OTC executive director, Trish Greyeyes.

Wanuskewin offers traditional games for groups, providing the teachings and skill development required for survival on the Northern Plains.

Their program says, “the traditional hunter-gatherer lifestyle was incredibly demanding and required superb levels of physical fitness. Come learn how games played an important role in educating the young by developing physical skills and encouraging social development.”
