Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. The team at the Office of the Treaty Commissioner stands with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirit (LGBTQ2) people against any forms of hate or discrimination.

We know education is key in eliminating discrimination not just towards race, but towards sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. Along with public engagement in topics of Indigenous culture and worldview and reconciliation, our education team is looking ahead to Pride Month to create events that arm people with the knowledge to ensure all rights are respected and protected.

Each Friday in June the OTC will host an event to celebrate Pride and hear stories and experiences from the LGBTQ2 community. These will be available online and open to everyone from the community and people who are allies.

The OTC is a place where all people can feel safe and themselves and we want to ensure that extends to all areas of our society.
