Today the community came and walked together in Neighbours without Borders.
The was a one-time public action in response to the attack on 66-year old Abu Sheikh. Earlier this year, as he was leaving prayer service at his mosque, and walking to his home, men attacked him by attempting to run him over with a half-ton truck and vandalized his home with bricks.
The Office of the Treaty Commissioner walked with hundreds of others in support of Mr. Sheikh and his family, walking alongside him as he returned home from the mosque. At his home, dignitaries planted flowers under the bed of broken windows that were covered with banners.
We stood together to show that racism and hate have no place in Saskatoon or the world.
