This short book is intended to tell the story of the people of Standing Buffalo, their history prior to contact with newcomers, their contribution to the formation of Canada, and the modern day context in which they live and add value to the Saskatchewan culture and economy.
Although the focus is on the Dakota Oyate of Saskatchewan the story would be incomplete without some description of the broader historical context within North America. The idea for this document arose because of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and the little known contribution of the Dakota Oyate to support the British in the defense of Canada.
