Lawyer Eleanore Sunchild, was recognized for her years of work in law and Indigenous rights with a Queen’s Counsel designation during the 2018 Induction ceremony in Regina on Jan. 4, 2019.

Sunchild, a member of the OTC speaker’s bureau, was one of 18 lawyers honoured during the event at Government House.

She is the sole owner of Sunchild Law, located on Poundmaker II, outside of Battleford. Sunchild has presented nationally and internationally on the legacy of the Indian Residential School system, and the impact of colonial policy in Canada, the history and importance of the Treaties and recently in April 2018, she presented at the United Nation Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues on the systemic racism in the Canadian justice system.

Treaty Commissioner Mary Culbertson attended the event in support of Sunchild and congratulates all the recipients.
